Food Handling Certificate
Municipal governments and regional health authorities set the rules for food premises (kitchens) in their area. One requirement almost all of them share: anyone preparing food for sale needs a current food handler certificate.
Uploading your certificate
If you're selling food for public consumption, Syzl requires an active Food Handler Certificate on file before you can request a booking.
Tap Me in the bottom menu.
Select Documentation.
On the Food Handler Certificate card, tap Add my own certificate.
Upload your certificate and enter its Certification period (start and expiry dates).
Make sure these are clearly visible on the certificate:
Your first and last name, matching your Syzl profile
The name of the certifying organization
The certification start and expiry dates
For US locations: your certificate must be an ANSI-accredited Food Protection Manager Certification (for example, ServSafe or National Registry).
Don't have a certificate yet?
For kitchens in Canada, you can take a Food Handler course and exam through the Syzl app. On the Food Handler Certificate card, tap Get certification. You can also add the course when you request a booking, and it counts toward this requirement. See Documents and the food safety course for details.
For kitchens in the US, tap Explore options on the Food Handler Certificate card. This opens the ANSI directory of accredited Food Protection Manager certification programs (for example, ServSafe or National Registry). Choose a program, pass the exam, then upload your certificate in the app.
Booking a kitchen for something other than making food?
If you won't be selling food, tick I am not selling my food on the Food Handler Certificate card. Check with the Kitchen Host by messaging them before you request to book.
