How do you verify Food Makers and Kitchen Hosts?
Trust matters on both sides of a booking. Here's what Syzl checks.
Identity verification for everyone
Every food maker and every kitchen host completes an identity verification in the app. It's handled by Stripe Identity, a third-party service, and you'll need a valid government-issued photo ID.
Food makers can't send a booking request until their identity is verified.
Kitchen hosts can create a listing, but it isn't bookable until they're verified. Until then, makers see "Book soon" instead of being able to select a time.
Verification can take several minutes to complete. For step-by-step instructions, see ID verification.
What Syzl doesn't do
We do not run background checks on makers or hosts. Identity verification confirms that people are who they say they are.
Other checks before a booking
Before you can send a booking request, you need valid proof of insurance on file (see the Insurance FAQ, or get a quote from our Canadian partner Zensurance).
If you're selling the food you make, a booking can also need a food handler certificate (see Food handling certificate).
You can also read reviews from past bookings on each kitchen's listing. For more ways to stay safe, see the Syzl safety guide.
