Damage Deposit
Accidents happen. To protect Kitchen Hosts, every booking request on Syzl includes a damage deposit provision.
How much is the deposit?
Regular bookings: $100 or 15% of the kitchen cost, whichever is greater.
Long-term bookings with a discount applied: a flat $500 deposit.
For regular bookings, the deposit isn't added to your quote or invoice, and nothing is held on your card for it.
When is it charged?
You're only charged if damage to the Kitchen Host's property, contents or space, or a kitchen that wasn't left clean, is reported. A Syzl team member will contact you first. The cost of cleaning or repairs is then charged separately to the card on your account, and you'll get a separate invoice for it. This cost can be more than the deposit amount.
When is a long-term deposit returned?
For long-term bookings, the $500 deposit is returned within 14 business days of your contract end date.

Protect your business with insurance
We recommend (and some Kitchen Hosts require) that Food Makers carry Commercial General Liability (CGL) insurance. Our Canadian partner Zensurance can help you get a quote. Learn more in our Insurance FAQ.
