What happens if your card is declined
Before we collect payment for a booking, we check that your card can cover it. If that check fails, your booking is at risk of being cancelled. Here's what happens and what you can do.
When we check your card
One to two days before the kitchen's cancellation deadline, we place a temporary hold on your card for the booking total. If you book less than a day before the deadline, we check your card straight away at checkout, so you'll know right away if it's declined. If your bank declines the hold, the check has failed. To learn more about holds, see Card holds and charges.
Common reasons for a decline:
Not enough available funds or credit
The card has expired or was replaced
Your bank blocked the payment as unusual activity
What you'll get from us
We email you with the subject "Your booking is at risk to be cancelled!" The email links to the booking in the app.
What to do
Check with your bank or your banking app to find out why the payment was declined. If your bank blocked it, ask them to allow payments from Syzl.
If you need to use a different card, go to Me > Wallet and edit your saved card.
Open the booking from the Bookings tab to check its status.
Update your card, then email help@syzl.io before the deadline and we'll retry the payment. Include your booking ID.
At the cancellation deadline
If the check failed, the booking is cancelled at the cancellation deadline.
Fix your payment before the deadline. Once a booking is cancelled, its time slot opens up again and someone else could book it.
