What is Private Calling?
Private Calling lets you phone the other person on a booking (a food maker or a kitchen host) straight from the Syzl app. Neither of you sees the other's phone number.
When can I make a call?
You can call when both of these are true:
The other person allows calls. Each person can turn calls on or off in their settings. If the other person has turned calls off, you can't call them.
You have an eligible booking together. The booking must be Requested, Approved or an Ongoing booking, or Completed with an end time in the last 48 hours.
48 hours after a completed booking ends, the call option turns off for that booking.
How do I turn calls on or off?
Tap Me and open Notification Settings.
Turn Calls on or off.
Check the phone number shown under the setting. Calls ring at this number. To change it, tap the number to edit your profile.
Your carrier's usual message and data fees may apply.
How do I make a call?
Open your conversation with the other person.
Tap the phone icon at the top of the conversation.
Tap Call to confirm. The app connects you through a private, masked line.
The confirmation step is there so you don't call someone by accident.
Why can't I make a call?
If the phone icon is greyed out, one of these is the reason:
The other person has calls turned off. They prefer messages, so keep the conversation going in writing.
There's no eligible booking. You need a booking with one of the statuses above. Once you've sent a booking request, you can call the host.
Is my phone number kept private?
Yes. Calls go through a secure calling service that hides both people's phone numbers, so your personal contact details stay private.
Does Private Calling cost anything?
Syzl doesn't charge for calls. Your carrier's message and data fees may apply.
What if the other person doesn't answer?
Send them a message in the conversation, or try again later while the booking is still eligible.
